Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd along with Verstraete IML USA officials announced today the company will locate a new facility in Clarksville. The in-mold labeling manufacturer will invest $20 million and create 59 new jobs in Montgomery County.

Estimates released yesterday from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey show Clarksville’s population at 149,120. Just shy of the 150,000 mark, this growth reflects an 11.6% increase over the past five years.

The Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council (EDC) will host its fifth annual growth summit on Thursday, August 25 at the Riverview Inn. This half-day public event and will feature recognized leaders in economic development who will address topics such as global and local economies, strategic planning for the future, technology, entrepreneurialism and what drives business decisions. Highlighting this year’s summit is keynote speaker Enoch Moeller, site operations manager for the Google data center in Lenoir, N.C.
Clarksville-Montgomery County Welcomes AAU National Basketball July 8-18

Local residents can expect to see an increase in out of town visitors for more of July as approximately 8,695 visitors from across the country arrive in Clarksville to compete in the AAU Boys’ 10U Basketball Division I and Division II National Championship from July 8-13, followed by the Girls 6th Grade National Championship July 13-18. A total of 52 boys teams and 63 girls teams will be competing.
