EDC Unveils Online Data Dashboard

Published Thursday, April 6, 2017

The Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council (EDC) launched a new online resource today at www.clarksvillepartnershipdata.com. The site is also available from the Demographics tabs within the clarksvillepartnership.com websites.

The new website is a statistical dashboard filled with economic statistics and demographic information on the Clarksville-Montgomery County region. Users will find leading indicators along with research and data trends needed to make business and policy decisions. The site offers current economic, demographic, and workforce information sourced from official government data on Montgomery County, the three-county Clarksville metropolitan statistical area, the nine-county Clarksville labor shed and the State of Tennessee. Comparative data for the United States is also included.

“One of the most important resources a region can provide is relevant and up-to-date business and community statistical information,” said Cal Wray, executive director of the EDC. “The ability to do so has been a primary objective of the EDC since Day One. In addition to the data, users are able to visually see how Montgomery County compares to the region, Tennessee and U.S. through charts, and graphs.”

Users can compile data within six main categories: Industry, Wages and Income, Workforce, Population Demographics, Social, and Other. Workforce, for example, contains data on employment, fastest growing occupations, college graduates, and degree clusters. Social includes housing and veterans-related expenditures. The Other category covers patents, imports/exports, and agricultural production.

Statistics are provided for multiple years, saving time and allowing for easy tracking. Bubble charts for industry, occupation, and college degree clusters visually represent strengths and weaknesses for the area. All of the research is accessible free of charge and is presented in an easy-to-use interface that allows users to customize the data into a dashboard style display format. Charts can even be saved and pasted into presentations for a professional look.

“We are in a data rich era and all of these numbers matter, only if utilized to measure the quality of life for citizens in the region. Civic, businesses organizations and ordinary citizens can use the data to view key livability indicators and to analyze the impact of the decisions we make,” said Wray.

Data is reported from official government sources and is automatically updated within 24 hours of its release.

Funding for the development of the site was provided through a grant from the Pennyrile Area Development District.
